All that is green and glorious about the Emerald Isle was temporarily transported to Heinz Field Club East Lounge for the 37th annual American Ireland Fund fete Friday night.

The walls lined with colorful life-size backdrops of pubs and cottages must have had former ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney and his wife, Patricia, feeling the old country charm. The green tie and tux event began with cocktails and a chance for event chair Sy Holzer and co-chairs Art Rooney II (with Greta) and Ambassador Rooney to mingle with guests, including this year's honoree, David Malone, CEO of Gateway Financial. Mr. Malone (with Nancy) was presented with the AIF Chairman's Award, which recognizes charitable and community leadership.

More than 650 guests came to raise a glass of Guinness or other libations to his efforts. Among those enjoying the Red Hand Paddy Band and Burke Conroy Irish dancers as well as a buffet of Irish fare were Pat Rabbitte, Irish minister of communications, energy and natural resources, and Kieran McLoughlin, CEO of Worldwide Ireland Funds. The event grossed more than $825,000.
