Where's our Lego store?

There are 65 Lego Stores in the United States, at least one in each of 27 states, including one in Philadelphia and each of the three largest cities (Cincinnati, Columbus and -- yes -- even Cleveland) in Ohio, but none in Pittsburgh.
Rumors have swirled among local retailers -- many of whom count on sales of Lego products to help their profit line -- that Lego will open a store here soon, a move they dread because it could draw away sales.
"I can't say if Pittsburgh is on the list now for a store," said Chris Steininger, one of just seven Lego master builders based in the United States. "But over the next few years we're looking to open 13 stores a year, so there's definitely a chance" Pittsburgh will get one.
There are just six Lego Discovery Centers in the United States -- including one in Kansas City in a market that is a similar size to Pittsburgh -- and just one new one opening next year outside New York City.
"We don't have any plans for Pittsburgh at the moment," said Sally Ann Wilkinson, a spokeswoman for Merlin Entertainments Group, the company that runs the Discovery Centers for Lego. "We have plans up to 2016 and Pittsburgh isn't in those plans. But that can change very quickly."
But if you're not about to drive seven hours to visit the Discovery Center outside of Chicago -- the closest location -- KidsFest will give visitors a taste of the experience, plus provide several other activities that kids wouldn't get a chance to do at a Discovery Center.
