Eric Mason, 21, of Saugus, Mass. set up the artificial ice rink at the Three Rivers Regatta this morning.

The rink, owned by the company Artificial Ice Events, is made of a plastic sort of polymer that is then covered with a solution of silicone and water.

Mr. Mason said it is very much like skating on ice but you need a little more force in the push. He also said the company is providing loaner skates, but not socks, so you might want to bring your own.
