PumpkinFest, a colorful communitywide celebration of pumpkins in all its forms, will be held Friday through Saturday, in the town park in Confluence in southern Somerset County.

There will be free entertainment, a variety of food and craft vendors, more than 20 activities for adults and children, and an open house with free homemade refreshments from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at River's Edge Antiques on the west side of town (www.riversedgeantiques.com.)

The entertainment tent will feature Queen Dance and DJ Adam Bomb on Friday evening; Backstreets Unplugged and Country Express, respectively, on Saturday afternoon and evening; and Girlz in Black Hats and Prayzer (in the gazebo) on Sunday afternoon.

There will be a largest pumpkin contest, a pumpkin pie and recipe contest, a pie-eating contest, a Great Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk, antique and classic auto and tractor shows, tractor square-dancing, tractor pulls, hay rides, and a Grand Parade through town at 5 p.m. Sunday. Bring a lawn chair.

The town, "where mountains touch rivers," is named for the confluence of the Youghiogheny and Casselman rivers and Laurel Hill Creek.

Proceeds benefit the Confluence volunteer fire department and the town's ambulance service.
