Phipps sponsors native plant, sustainability conference

A Native Plant and Sustainability Conference will held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland.

National experts will discuss plants, landscapes and our role as stewards of the earth. Participant will also get to tour Phipps new Center for Sustainable Landscapes. Crushing computers

Watch your old computer or electronics be crushed and recycled at a Community Computer Recycling Day from 9 a.m. to noon next Saturday at Commonwealth Computer Recycling, 1628 Roseytown Road, Greensburg (15601).

Cost for hard drive destruction for $10 each. Some data destruction is free. Residential and commercial equipment accepted. Ten percent of fees collected will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Information: www.ccrcyber.com.
