Homewood's architecture

Four architectural experts will give a free program called "The Architecture of Homewood: Hidden Gems" from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 in the auditorium of the Carnegie Library, 7101 Hamilton Ave., Homewood (15208).

The discussion is sponsored by Creative Local and is hosted by Chris Moore of WQED. The panelists are Martin Aurand, Carnegie Mellon architecture librarian; John M. Brewer Jr., author and historian; Christine Brill, architect; and Terry Necciai, preservation architect.

Mums lecture

Steve Orbon will speak on "The Art and Culture of Chrysanthemums" at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 as part of the monthly meeting of the Greensburg Garden Center at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road. Members and guests welcome. Mr. Orbon is past president of the Western Pennsylvania Dahlia and Chrysanthemum Society. Information: 724-837-0245.
