It's not available until April, but longtime North Side resident Dan Rooney and Carol Peterson, historian and preservationist, have written "Allegheny City," a history of the North Side and Allegheny City, once the third largest metropolis in Pennsylvania when it was annexed -- amid much controversy -- by the City of Pittsburgh in 2007.
