Chrysanthemums are the stars of the Fall Flower Show that opens today at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland. But isn't it time the Victorian glasshouse got a little limelight? This week, Georgia Wahl put the finishing touches on the garden railroad in the South Conservatory, which depicts plants arriving at the glasshouse by rail from the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, the year Phipps opened. The show, which also features nearly 3,000 mums and other fall-blooming plants, continues through Nov. 4. For a video and more photos, go to www.post-gazette.com.
