Now that Thanksgiving has passed, the Pittsburgh cookie season has commenced. Today, Lawrenceville's Joy of Cookies Cookie Tour starts and runs through Dec. 2. More than two dozen businesses in that neighborhood are marked with gingerbread cookie signs, which means that they'll be handing out cookies while supplies last. And from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, you can buy cookies at the Cookie Mall set up at the Teamsters Temple at 47th and Butler streets. For more info, visit lvpgh.com or call 412-683-6488.
Other groups and churches are baking for cookie walks of their own.
You'd better get cracking, too, to enter our Holiday Cookie Contest. We're looking for recipes that are new twists on the classics -- with, say, a secret ingredient or a technique.
