Just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how much I enjoyed your maple syrup article ["Trees to table" by Bob Batz Jr., Food & Flavor, March 14]. Brings me back to my younger years in Somerset County. My great uncle had a sugar shack and my relatives still make syrup -- at Sanner Maple Products in Rockwood. Makes me think I need to make pancakes for breakfast in the morning ... and of course, only Somerset County maple syrup is in my fridge! I restock every time I go back to Rockwood to see my family! (I also purchase from Smith's Maple Camp in Rockwood because their products can be found at Rockwood Mill Shoppes).
