Firehouse Chili Cookoff set for Aug. 13

Do the men from Eight Engine and Truck Company in East Liberty still have the best chili in the city? Visitors to the East Liberty Citiparks Farmers' Market will give the definitive answer, when the second-annual Firehouse Chili Cookoff gets underway on Aug. 13.

Engine 8 won last year for its spicy "Dragonslayer" chili. But they'll have plenty of competition again this year from competing firehouses in District Three and chefs from Giant Eagle Market District.

Visitors at the farmers' market at Penn Circle West will have a chance to sample six types of chili for a small donation. The contest runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and all proceeds from sampling/voting will benefit the Salvation Army.
