The Post-Gazette won two national awards in the Association of Food Journalists competition during the group's annual conference in Washington, D.C., last week.

Photographer Larry Roberts won second place for Best Food Visual for his photo of apples and honey, and writer Gretchen McKay won second place for Best Newspaper Food Feature (in the 200,000-and-under circulation category) for her story on how to roast a whole pig. The awards were presented during a lunch at the Hotel Palomar on Sept. 6.

The competition received 250 entries worldwide. AFJ is a professional journalism association that fosters professional ethical standards and encourages a greater understanding of food news among fellow journalists.
