Kids all over the region are now ticked, and moms are happy.

McDonald's introduced its new Happy Meal in the Pittsburgh market Friday, Jan. 20. Now, instead of asking your kid, "Do you want fries or apples with that?" (as if you didn't already know the answer), you just order up a happy meal and she or he gets both. Except the number of fries has been greatly reduced.

If you want only apples, you can get double apples and no fries.

But if you want only fries ... tough luck, kid.

Feb. 11: Seventh Annual Recipe for Hope, 7:30 p.m. at Mayernik Center, Camp Horne Road, Ohio Township. It might seem silly to talk gardening in the dead of winter, but spring will be here before we know it.
