Emily Mack Jamison has had a soft spot for shoes since she was a child. After years of dreaming, researching and planning, she's turned her love into a luxury line of heels, flats and boots for women.
Made in Italy, EMY MACK shoes combine elements of old Hollywood glamour with comfort. New styles will come out seasonally, with limited runs of each look to ensure women are getting shoes that not everyone else will be wearing.
EMY MACK has a showroom at 5417 Walnut St. in Shadyside and welcomes walk-ins 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment. It also has a space on Manhattan's Upper West Side, as well as trunk shoes and direct sales in retail markets across the country.

Studio Booth at 6343 Penn Ave. in East Liberty is offering more than fresh hairstyles these days. Salon owner and stylist Ronald Booth has been collaborating with former Calvin Klein designer Christina Roselle on a line of unique handbags and scarves that marry function with exotic furs and skins, such as ostrich and stingray.
"The stuff was just flying out of here," Mr. Booth said about a stock of python-skin handbags.
He gets the ideas for the styles from listening to what clients long for in a handbag. The materials come from places such as Thailand and South Africa, where animals are farmed primarily for their meat. Ms. Roselle hand-makes the purses, which can go from about $95 to $3,000 and are sold exclusively at Studio Booth.

Jeffrey Smith is fairly new to jewelry making, but the complexity of his creations shows little evidence of his newcomer status. The artistry he's applied to hairstyling at the Jeffrey Smith Studio at 3801 Butler St. in Lawrenceville was easy for him to translate into accessories, he said.
"It was amazing how fast I adapted to the technique," said Mr. Smith, who worked with a private teacher to sharpen his skills. "I think people are going to be really surprised. I'm actually surprised."
The public can get its first peek of the collection 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at a launch party at the salon, where jewelry will be available. The statement pieces in a range of colors and beads run from about $25 to $300.
