Century Club: For her 100th birthday, Jeanette Neuman would like a beer
Jeanette Neuman is known for her indestructible fruitcake, which, fortunately, is also delicious. Mrs. Neuman, who turns 100 on Dec. 17, has lived at The Residence at Weinberg Village in Squirrel Hill since 2000. Sam, her husband of 68 years, lives in a nearby veterans facility.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1912, in Beaver Falls, the youngest of Abraham and Anna Rose Rosenberg's eight children. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1930 and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology to study dietetics.
In 1954, she married Sam Neuman and for 43 years they lived together in Swisshelm Park. In the 1970s, she and her husband visited Israel three times and made yearly visits to the Catskill Mountains in New York for the annual B'nai B'rith convention.
Mrs. Neuman likes a beer every now and then and hopes to have one on her birthday, which she will celebrate with family and friends at Weinberg Village.
