Century Club: Centenarian stays on the case with her TV favorites
Marie Pieczynski's favorite things are reading and watching "Nancy Grace" and "Judge Judy" on TV. As she turns 100 today, let's hope she has time for all three.
She was born on Pius Street on the South Side on Oct. 9, 1912, one of Casper and Mary Lijewski's 10 children. On June 10, 1936, she married Raymond Pieczynski at St. Adalbert Church. They had three daughters: Bernadette Schick (deceased), Ruth Ann Harman of Mount Oliver, with whom she lives, and Marilyn Detwiler of Brentwood. Mrs. Pieczynski's husband passed away in February 1982 after 45 years of marriage.
Mrs. Pieczynski was an active member of St. Basil Christian Mothers, attended regular card parties and bowled in a women's league. She has nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
