Long gone are the days when fan voting for Fox's "American Idol" got jammed up over inadequate telephone lines.

These days, all you have to do is click.

Fox recently launched a free app for iOS and Android that promises to give fans "the ultimate 'American Idol' experience." Until the live shows begin March 5, users will have to be content with the wealth of photo and video clips, replays of audition highlights around the country and more than one photo of the hardest-working man in show business, Ryan Seacrest.

Twitter feeds from current and past judges and contestants also are featured (hey, it was Adam Lambert's birthday last week!), and second screen experiences will be enhanced when the live shows arrive via real-time Facebook posting.

There also will be a live broadcast sync experience, on-screen voting and behind-the-scenes footage. If Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey get into a girlfight, watch the comments fly.
