Lobbying ex-politicians an issue

Riddle: What do Sean Logan, Dan Onorato and John Pippy have in common with Kennywood Park? ("Merging Coal Families," July 10). Answer: They are all riders on the merry-go-round from politicians to lobbyists.

After retiring from politics, they can now use their insider influence with their former buddies in order to influence laws in favor of their new hospital and coal industry employers.

Solution: I propose a public referendum that would require all self-serving, double-dipping elected officials to forfeit their entire pension if they want to ride the lobbying carousel.

Otherwise, the yellow arrow Kennywood signs are pointing to Harrisburg.
