In recognition of the 15th year of the Tech 50 Awards, the Pittsburgh Technology Council stepped up its own technological efforts Wednesday when announcing the finalists.
The awards honor the Pittsburgh region's fastest growing and most innovative tech companies.
About 15 corporate sponsors gathered in the PTC Resource Room, at the council's offices in South Oakland, to hear the announcement of this year's Tech 50 finalists, while 60 more people watched via webcast for the first time through Concert-Oh, a Monroeville-based Web teleconferencing company. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is a media sponsor for the Tech 50 Awards.
The Technology Council also unveiled a video contest that encourages companies to download amateur videos about their offices to YouTube. The top three videos will be judged during the Tech 50 awards in September, where attendees will vote for winners via text message.
In a final touch, the council introduced a customized website and texting campaign for Tech 50 announcements at http://tech50.pghtech.org.
Award winners will be announced during a celebration event at Consol Energy Center on Sept. 20. The finalists are:
