St. Clair Hospital acquires South Hills Cardiology Associates

St. Clair Hospital in Mt. Lebanon has acquired South Hills Cardiology Associates, a six-physician practice already based at the hospital campus but which has operated as an independent practice for more than 40 years.
Jeffrey M. Friedel, an interventional cardiologist with the group, and St. Clair Chief Medical Officer G. Alan Yeasted said patients likely won't notice any difference since the group will keep its name and already has been seeing patients exclusively at St. Clair for a number of years.
But both physicians say having the doctors on the hospital's computerized information system will help them better coordinate patient care through improved communication with patients' primary care physicians.
Dr. Friedel said he believes that turning over the business and administrative duties to the hospital will help, too. "We essentially get to make patient care not only our primary focus, but our only focus."
The group officially joins the St. Clair Medical Service on Jan. 1.
