Unemployment in Pennsylvania rose above the national rate in December, according to figures today released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Pennsylvania's unemployment rate was 7.9 percent, slightly above the November unemployment rate of 7.8 percent and the national unemployment rate of 7.8 percent for December.

The state also lost non-farm jobs. A survey of employers found that they cut 24,800 jobs from November to December.
