Joel Pfeffer is an immigration attorney with Pittsburgh law firm Meyer, Unkovic & Scott, and chair of the firm's corporate and business law group. A practicing rabbi until he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1985, he now sits on the National Religious Workers Committee of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Ipso Facto spoke with him last week:

Ipso Facto: What types of immigration issues are most common in Pittsburgh?

Pfeffer: Many of my clients are businesses that need special skills that are available from other countries, such as computer skills or engineering skills, and they want help from someone abroad. But it runs from the executive of a foreign company operating here in Western Pennsylvania, [to] a farmer in central Pennsylvania who wants to marry his girlfriend he met on the Internet, [to] priests from Africa who are coming here to fill chaplaincy position ...
