Senior housing proposal gets boost from URA board

A plan to build 25 units of senior housing in Lincoln Place got a boost from the city's Urban Redevelopment Authority board yesterday over the objections of one member. The board approved the sale of a 3.5-acre plot of vacant land on Mifflin Road to Action Housing Inc. and the 31st Ward Community Action Group to further the plans for the housing. City Councilwoman Tonya Payne, a URA board member, voted against the sale, saying that the URA should have put out a request for proposals from developers. Council had passed a resolution authorizing the city to convey the property to the URA for the purpose of senior citizen housing.
