JetBlue plans to add two flights to Boston

JetBlue Airways plans to add two nonstop flights to Boston from Pittsburgh International Airport by June 17. The airline will resume a seasonal nonstop flight to Boston's Logan International Airport starting May 1. It will leave Pittsburgh at 9:25 a.m. The flight will run until the end of the summer. On June 17, the airline will add another daily nonstop flight. It is expected to be a permanent addition. US Airways also flights to Boston from Pittsburgh, averaging five daily nonstops.

Consol closes first deal as part of China initiative

Consol Energy Inc. has closed its first deal under a new initiative to sell coal to markets in China. A shipload of 82,000 tons of mettalurgical coal from the company's Bailey Mine in Greene County will be sent to Tianjin, China, where it will be marketed by the Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, and Singapore offices of Latrobe-based Xcoal Energy & Resources for use in making coke. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

AOL begins layoffs after 1,100 buyouts

AOL Inc., the Internet company spun off from Time Warner Inc. in December, said it started involuntary job cuts yesterday after 1,100 employees accepted buyout packages as part of a $200 million restructuring. The New York-based company also plans to close offices in Spain and Sweden. AOL said in November that it planned to cut its 7,000- person staff by about one-third to help reduce annual operating costs.

Moving company files for bankruptcy

Don Farr Moving & Storage Co., of West Mifflin, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania. The court filing indicated the company had assets between $1 million and $10 million, and liabilities in the same range. The company's Web site lists it as the "official mover of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Preferred Mover of the Pittsburgh Steelers." The Steelers and the Pirates are listed as among the 20 largest unsecured creditors.
