Excela Health names Fox as chief medical officer
Carol Fox has been named chief medical officer for Excela Health in Westmoreland County, stepping into the position left vacant by the resignation of Jerome Granato earlier this year. Dr. Fox, who is board certified in family medicine, has been a practicing primary care physician with Excela since 1990.
Ga. counties sue HSBC, claiming loss of tax base
In a relatively novel strategy, three Atlanta-area counties have filed a lawsuit claiming that British bank HSBC cost them hundreds of millions of dollars in extra expenses and damage to their tax bases by aggressively signing minorities to housing loans that were likely to fail. Similar lawsuits resulted in settlements this year worth millions of dollars for communities in Maryland and Tennessee.
