Kate M. Diersen has joined the school and municipal law group at Goehring, Rutter & Boehm. As a municipal solicitor, she brings experience in land use issues, labor and employment concerns and pension and retirement concerns. She has represented authorities in labor contract negotiations and has participated in negotiations for, and the drafting of, inter-municipal agreements. Ms. Diersen received her JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was executive editor of the Pittsburgh Tax Review.


Michael D. McDowell, attorney, arbitrator and mediator, was elected chair of the Allegheny County Bar Association's section of labor and employment law for a two-year term beginning July 1.

Leech Tishman said A. Bruce Bowden joined as a partner in the corporate practice group. He focuses his practice in the areas of merger and acquisition transactions, international, general corporate and corporate financial law. Practicing in the international arena since the early 1970s, he has represented both overseas companies acquiring U.S. companies and U.S. investors in sales of interests to overseas companies. Prior to joining Leech Tishman, Mr. Bowden served as a partner at both Duane Morris LLP and Buchanan Ingersoll.

Several lawyers from Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC have been recognized as Super Lawyers and Rising Stars for 2012 by Thomson Reuters Legal.

Four Eckert Seamans attorneys received additional accolades among the Super Lawyers ranks, including Peter J. Hoffman as one of the "Top 10 in Pennsylvania, Top 100 in Pennsylvania and Top 100 in Philadelphia;" Roberta Jacobs-Meadway as one of the "Top 50 Females in Pennsylvania," and Scott D. Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP said George McGrann has been appointed managing partner of its Pittsburgh, office while former managing partner Jeff Letwin will concentrate his efforts in his role as co-chair of the business services department firm-wide.

Mr. McGrann previously served the firm as a member of its executive committee and, before that, was chair of its environmental practice group. He has more than three decades of experience as a trial lawyer in areas including commercial, antitrust and environmental litigation.

After nine years as managing partner of the firm's Pittsburgh office, Mr. Letwin will continue his work as a co-chair of the business services department and in that role, will focus on lateral recruitment to build the department in locations nationwide. His practice includes all areas of business counseling, including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities, franchising, municipal and government services, real estate finance and development.
