Julian E. Gray and Frank A. Petrich, certified elder law attorneys with Julian Gray Associates, have been named Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for 2012 in the area of elder law by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine. Mr. Gray, founder and principal, concentrates his practice in the area of elder law and disability planning, with emphasis on veterans benefits. Mr. Petrich was the first attorney certified as an elder law attorney in Western Pennsylvania, granted by the National Elder Law Foundation. He concentrates his practice in the area of elder law, estate planning and administration. Mr. Gray and Mr. Petrich co-author the monthly Elder Law column in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
One of Kentucky's largest firms, Stoll Keenon Ogden, has opened an office in Western Pennsylvania with three of its existing lawyers who focus their practices on real estate due diligence and title examinations for oil, gas and coal producers. The office, located in the Southpointe business park in Washington County, is the Lexington-based firm's first location outside of Kentucky and will be led by member David H. Thomason, who has more than 45 years' experience in mineral law.
The following Goehring, Rutter & Boehm attorneys were named 2012 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Stars: Brian T. Lindauer, named in the area of real estate law and a member of the firm's real estate and business law groups, advises the firm's clients in a broad range of transactional matters, including real estate acquisitions and sales, lease negotiations, landlord and tenant matters and loan documentation; Mandi L. Scott, named for her appellate practice, assists clients in a variety of practice areas on appeal in both state and federal court, including municipal and local tax matters; Megan M. Ott, a member of the firm's school and municipal law and litigation groups, represents schools and municipalities in all matters of organization, finance, legal compliance, and labor and employment litigation; Elizabeth M. Warner, named in the area of family law, represents clients in divorce, custody and support litigation, drafts settlement and premarital agreements and represents parents in adoption proceedings.
C. Robert Keenan III, shareholder, Davies, McFarland & Carroll, P.C., was elected to serve as chair of the workers' compensation section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Thorp Reed & Armstrong, LLP said Stephanie J. Sprenkle and Karen M. Sanchez were appointed to serve as hearing committee members by the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court for a term of three years, effective June 1. Ms. Sprenkle is senior counsel in the firm's commercial, real estate and public finance practice group where she focuses on commercial real estate and transactions, including representing landlords and tenants in retail, office, warehouse, and ground leasing. She earned her master's and law degrees from Temple University School of Law and received her B.A. from Penn State University.
Ms. Sanchez is an associate in the firm's commercial, real estate and public finance practice group. Her practice is concentrated in financing, creditors' rights, lender liability, real estate development and corporate matters. Ms. Sanchez earned her law degree and her M.B.A. from Temple, and her undegrad degree from Penn State.
Rhonda J. Sudina, a partner at Robb Leonard Mulvihill LLP, has been elected to membership in the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County.
Pittsburgh law firm Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP announced that the The Legal Intelligencer, the country's oldest law journal and a news partner of the Post-Gazette, has recognized the firm for winning one of the "top decisions" of 2011. The award notes work of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott attorneys Patricia Dodge, Russell Ober, and Andrew Noble on the Allegheny Energy Supply Co. LLC v. Wolf Run Mining Co. case. In the case, a trial court found Wolf Run Mining Co. liable to pay $104.1 million for breaching a coal supply contract with Allegheny Energy Supply and Monongahela Power Co. Meyer, Unkovic & Scott represented Allegheny Energy Supply Company LLC.
Ms. Dodge is the firm's managing partner and has practiced as a trial lawyer for 30 years, representing a wide range of foreign and domestic corporations and municipal agencies. Mr. Ober is chair of the firm's business and tort litigation practice group and focuses his practice on the litigation of business and commercial disputes and the defense of product liability, errors and omissions and other property and casualty claims. Mr. Noble is a member of the firm's business and tort litigation practice group. He has handled cases involving breach of contract, copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, insurance coverage, and oil and gas leases.
