D.A. Davidson & Co. announced the opening of its Pittsburgh office and has hired John Koodrich as chief credit strategist and senior vice president and Tracy Hindman as vice president, institutional sales.

bit-x-bit hired Karen A. Schuler as its chief operating officer and vice president.

Health

Five ear, nose and throat specialists who make up the Metropolitan ENT Associates physician practice will join UPMC on Jan. 1. James E. Blaugrund, Scott E. Celin, Steven R. Jones, Philip A. Pollice and Michael S. Srodes all are board-certified otolaryngologists. The doctors will continue to see patients at their five clinical locations at UPMC Mercy in Uptown; the UPMC Passavant Professional Building in McCandless; 969 Greentree Road in Green Tree; 6001 Stonewood Drive in Wexford; and 4190 Brownsville Road in Brentwood. The group will continue to be affiliated with UPMC Passavant, UPMC Passavant-Cranberry and UPMC Mercy.

Eric Hays has joined Highmark as vice president of Western Pennsylvania market.

Heritage Valley Health System named Brett Anderson chair of the anesthesiology department at the Beaver campus.

Laura Shore joined the strategic communications team at Havas PR as an account coordinator.
