Accounting

Chemel Kornick & Co. LLC hired Michael J. Namey III as a tax consultant.

Jan Vermeulen joined Padgett Business Services as an accounting coordinator. In addition, Padgett Business Services recently relocated to 409 Beatty Road in Monroeville.

Associations & Organizations

Carrie S. Holstead , president of Carrie S. Holstead Real Estate Consultants Inc., was elected chairman of the board for ITRA Global, formerly known as the International Tenant Representative Alliance.

Michael Nerone was elected to the board of the Trucking Industry Defense Association. Mr. Nerone is a shareholder and founder in the law firm of Pion, Johnston, Nerone, Girman, Clements & Smith, P.C. and focuses his practice in transportation law and insurance coverage litigation.

The Master Interior Contractors Association elected officers for 2012: president: Michael Nehnevajsa , Easley & Rivers Inc.; vice president: Fred Episcopo , Wyatt Inc.; treasurer: David Balmert , J.J. Morris & Sons Inc.; and secretary: Daryl Pitzer , RAM Acoustical Corp.

Education

Ellen McConnell was appointed head of Shady Side Academy's Junior School. Ms. McConnell, who is currently assistant head of the Lower School at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, will begin her position at Shady Side on July 1. She will succeed current junior school head Cheryl Little , who is retiring.

Health

Weirton Medical Center appointed Robert A. Frank as chief financial officer of the hospital.

Donna Cochran , Jameson Hospital Director of Nursing, was appointed as an American College of Cardiology Pennsylvania State Liaison. Ms. Cochran will serve as a state representative working with the Cardiovascular Team Council and ACC Staff to promote membership and national educational opportunities, and energize current members by providing them with opportunities to participate in local activities.

John Boyce was named regional marketing specialist at Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co., the Ohio Valley Region.

Marketing

Pipitone Group hired Randy Livingston as a senior art director in the creative department.

Smith Brothers Agency promoted Michael Bollinger to president and named Victorria Wytcherley director of production and traffic. The company hired Greg Smith director of shopper marketing; Peter Schnupp , senior digital strategist; Melanie Cox McCluskey , senior copywriter; Flaviano Rosati , senior interactive designer; Karin LaFramboise , director of personnel development; Nisha Contractor , social media manager; Amanda Rea , producer; Alex Davis , digital media planner and buyer; Thad Bloom , interface developer; Laura Forester , PR/social media coordinator; James Acklin , interface developer; and Nicole Filosemi , graphic designer.

Nonprofit

GlobalPittsburgh, formerly the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors, named Donald M. Bonk as acting executive director.

TiE-Pittsburgh elected a new president and treasurer to two-year terms. Elected to president is Roger Byford , founder and CTO of Vocollect (now Intermec); and Jay Srini , president of Strategic Consulting Solutions will serve treasurer. In addition, Atul Bansal , CEO of TimeSys, was elected to serve a three-year term on its board.

Theater

Pittsburgh Public Theater's board of trustees voted to extend the contract of Ted Pappas , producing artistic director, by four years. Now in the second year of his current contract, the extension means that Mr. Pappas will be the theater's creative and executive director until August 31, 2018.

Awards & Honors

Rosemary Martinelli received the annual distinguished faculty award from the University of Phoenix's Pittsburgh Campus at the university's annual commencement. She concentrates her teaching on courses in marketing, communications, media studies and the humanities.

The Irish Voice newspaper named Mary Hines , president of Carlow University, to the Irish Education 100. The list recognizes the top figures in higher education in North America who have Irish heritage. She earned her B.A. degree (summa cum laude) from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, where she graduated first in her class and also received the College's Ethics Award. She received a National Fellowship to pursue her M.A. and Ph.D., which were awarded by the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Kelly Gable-LaBelle , division director of Early Childhood Services at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, was honored as winner of the 2011 PACCA Award of Excellence of the Year. The award from the Pennsylvania Child Care Association honors directors and administrators for outstanding service and accomplishments in the field of administration.
