Contracts

Landau Building Co. was awarded a contract from Orchard Hill Church in Franklin Park to build a 30,000-square-foot, $4 million expansion that includes a gymnasium, expanded lobby and more space for its children's ministry. Landau Building Co. was the contractor of the original facility, built in 1989.

Garrett Creative signed a consulting contract with Walnut Grove Restaurant and Bar. Garrett Creative will provide all creative and interactive advertising, strategic planning and marketing elements for Walnut Grove.

KIT Solutions LLC was designated the vendor of choice to host, maintain and support the management of the data for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs' (BDAP) prevention programs.

Awards/Honors

• Thomas M. Thompson, shareholder, corporate finance and technology section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Pittsburgh office, was named a 2010 Pittsburgh "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyers in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions.

• Ben Elisco, founder, Elisco Advertising, was awarded with an outstanding achievement in media award from the Media Association of Pittsburgh in the agency/allied category.

• John Kovacs was elected a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, which is a professional association whose mission is to develop leadership, advance technology, advocate lifelong learning and promote the civil engineering profession. Mr. Kovacs is vice president and regional manager for Gannett Fleming Inc.

• Donna Murphy, executive director of Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc., was named Gateway Rehab's 2010 Thank You Award recipient. The annual Thank You Conference is held in recognition and appreciation of professionals from various organizations who support Gateway's mission to help all affected by addictive diseases to be healthy in body, mind and spirit.

• The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania named St. Clair Hospital a winner in HAP's 2010 Achievement Awards Program. The hospital's winning entry in the annual awards program was titled "Improving Patient Safety Through Standardization of Anticoagulation Processes" and was submitted by Amy Georgulis, teamleader, and clinical specialist in the pharmacy department. M. Sabina Daroski, M.D., served as physician champion on the project. The awards program is designed to showcase hospital and health system best practices in selected areas and receives entries from institutions throughout the commonwealth.

• Matthew M. Hoffman, shareholder, Tucker Arensberg, received the distinguished achievement in law award from the Tri-State Area School Study Council. Mr. Hoffman is co-chair of the its municipal and school practice group and currently serves as solicitor for various school entities throughout Western Pennsylvania, including several public school districts, vocational-technical schools, an alternative education program and charter schools.
