Giant Eagle Optical opened its newest in-supermarket location at its Robinson supermarket location at 6511 Steubenville Pike.

Upper Crust opened a facility at the AIRMALL at Pittsburgh International Airport, Concourse C. Upper Crust is recognized for serving authentic French baguettes, baked muffins, seasonal soups, salads and a wide range of bread for sandwiches. Hours of operation are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

McCrory & McDowell LLC said the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals, based in Princeton, N.J., awarded John M. Sveda, CPA, the prestigious designation of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional.

Rothman Gordon attorneys included in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America are Samuel L. Douglass and Thomas R. Solomich, real estate; Shelley W. Elovitz and John W. Zatkos Jr., workers' compensation; K. Sidney Neuman, James W. Ummer and R. Douglas DeNardo, trusts and estates; and Stephen H. Jordan, Alan C. Blanco, James W. Carroll Jr. and Louis B. Kushner (also alternate dispute resolution), labor & employment.

Industrial Scientific Corp. was named the Advanced Manufacturing Category Leader at the Pittsburgh Technology Council's Tech 50 Awards Program, which recognizes companies in five categories for achievements in growth and innovation.

Hill, Barth & King LLC said Sri P. Rangarajan, manager, business valuations, earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Duquesne University was ranked No. 8 worldwide by the Aspen Institute for leadership in integrating social and environmental issues into its master of business administration program. The university, which launched an MBA for Sustainability this fall, also was ranked No. 1 worldwide among schools of its size in 2007.

Michelle Cheeks-Nowlin, branch manager, Citizens Bank, received the 2007 Minority Opinion Magazine's Minority Achievers Award in recognition of outstanding commitment to profession and community. It was presented to her by Minority Opinion Magazine at its Annual Salute to Minority Achievers Luncheon.

The Mall at Robinson was recognized for marketing excellence by the 36th annual MAXI Awards program of the International Council of Shopping Centers Inc. The Mall at Robinson, owned and managed by Forest City Enterprises, won a Maxi Silver award in the public relations category.

AAA East Central has placed Ryan's Auto Glass on its list of Approved Auto Services.

John R. Gotaskie Jr., a litigator with the Pittsburgh office of Fox Rothschild LLP, will receive at a Georgetown University Alumni Association banquet next month the 2008 Reed Alumni Award for his exceptional service to the Georgetown board during the past year. Mr. Gotaskie represents companies and individuals in complex commercial litigation, creditors' rights and franchising issues.
