Channel 4 has hired fill-in meteorologist Ray Petelin to offer weather forecasts in the weekend evening and 11 p.m. newscasts.

A native of Ashtabula, Ohio, Mr. Petelin previously worked at TV stations in Erie and Parkersburg, W.Va., serving as a producer and news anchor before transitioning to weather. A graduate of the University of Akron with a certificate of meteorology from Mississippi State University, Mr. Petelin has seals of approval from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

With Mr. Petelin's hiring WTAE is back up to four staff meteorologists following the departure of Stephen Cropper, who was subsequently hired by WPXI.

WTAE also announced a change to its weekend newscast schedule. Beginning this weekend, "ABC World News" will swap slots on Sunday with WTAE's evening local news, putting the national newscast at 6 and local news at 6:30 p.m.

On Dec. 10, when "ABC College Football" broadcasts conclude, the same switch will take place on Saturday.
