WQED-FM pledges to go green

Coffee mugs and tote bags have long been staples during public radio pledge drives. But this time around, classical WQED-FM (89.3) is going green.
For every $75 donated, WQED and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will plant two trees in Allegheny County. For $365, a large tree will be planted. Donors will be invited to the planting.
And the totes and beverage containers aren't going away. Contributors will get a WQED eco-tote and aluminum water bottles. The pledge drive gets underway today and runs through June 2.
