Marvin Hamlisch's affinity for Pittsburgh wasn't limited to the PSO stage. He was a part of the local music scene, and today 1320 WJAS-AM will remember the late composer.
Jack Bogut (6-10 a.m.), Bill Cardille (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Chris Shovlin (3-7 p.m.) all had Hamlisch as a guest on their shows over the years. They will be featuring his music, performed both by him and various artists, and talk about the stories behind the songs.
Greg Joseph, a member of the WYEP-FM board, has been named the station's interim general manager. Mr. Joseph also is a bass player and spokesman for the band The Clarks.
