Bedtime just got a lot earlier for Keith Jones.
Mr. Jones recently concluded a two-year reporting stint with WTAE-TV and next month becomes morning news anchor at WCAU in Philadelphia.
"I'm really excited to be going back home and reporting the news here in my hometown," said Mr. Jones, who grew up in New Egypt, N.J., which is part of his new station's viewing area.
Mr. Jones was a weekday evening reporter for Channel 4. "But it's really bittersweet. I really loved Pittsburgh, and I learned so much from the reporters around me.
"I count myself as really lucky."
"He's an accomplished journalist with a great attitude, someone we loved having here," said WTAE president and general manager Michael Hayes, adding the station has no set plans yet for replacing Mr. Jones.
Mr. Jones will be paired with morning anchor Lori Wilson at the NBC affiliate. He's no stranger to the station, having done an internship there as a student at Villanova University.
Pittsburgh news media, he said, adopt a "straightforward, no-nonsense" approach to reporting.
"Everyone was always extremely careful to get the facts straight, and I think I can take that with me to any market," Mr. Jones said.
He begins his new job Monday, but his first on-air date has yet to be determined.
"Hopefully, I won't call the weather center 'Weather Watch 4,' " he said, laughing.
