WDVE-FM (102.5) has revamped its morning show, adding one new voice and one that will be familiar to 'DVE listeners.
And station owner Clear Channel Pittsburgh is letting longtime morning host Jim Krenn go.
Starting Monday, former WDVE morning host Scott Paulsen and Pittsburgh comedian Bill Crawford will join the morning team of Randy Baumann, Val Porter and Mike Prisuta.
Mr. Paulsen will be returning on an occasional basis to the morning show, which he hosted with Mr. Krenn. He left in 1999 and later returned to WDVE and sister station WBGG, followed by stints at the former WRKZ-FM and WEAE-AM/ESPN.
His new role at WDVE is described as an executive contributor for the station and the morning show. Mr. Paulsen will be part of the WDVE morning show on a weekly basis and will guest host on other WDVE programs. He'll also contribute creative content for the station through his trademark humorous commentaries, parody bits and blog posts.
Bill Crawford is a Pittsburgh comedian who has done stand-up comedy locally and nationally and has been a regular guest on the WDVE morning show.
"The return of Scott Paulsen and the addition of Bill Crawford to WDVE will round out an all-star staff for WDVE and Pittsburgh listeners," said Dennis Lamme, president and market manager for Clear Channel Pittsburgh in a statement announcing the changes. "We are excited about the creative spark these two personalities will bring to the station."
Mr. Krenn was taken off the air in December -- a move that signaled changes to come for the morning show. He is being released from his contract.
"WDVE tried to reach new terms with Jim Krenn, but as that was unsuccessful, Jim will be moving on," Mr. Lamme said. "We support and thank him for his contributions to Clear Channel and WDVE over the years."
