Casting producers for NBC's "The Biggest Loser" are coming to Pittsburgh in August for the first time to select contestants for its 11th season.
It's part of an 11-city tour to find outgoing individuals or teams of two who are at least 100 pounds overweight and have inspirational stories on why they should be given the opportunity to slim down on the weight-loss competition series.
The show, which returns in January (in past seasons it's aired at 8 p.m. Tuesdays) follows the journeys of everyday obese people as they improve their diets and exercise regimens under the guidance of celebrity fitness trainers. Contestants compete each season for the $250,000 grand prize.
Interested candidates can submit applications online at www.thebiggestlosercasting.com. Open auditions (advance applications not required) will be held 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 7 at Saddle Ridge at Station Square, 7 E. Carson St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
Candidates must be at least 18 and legal U.S. residents. The casting team will do its best to see the first 500 people in line. People will not be allowed to line up prior to three hours before the start of the open call. Candidates should bring a nonreturnable photo of themselves (and their partners if applying as a team).
Casting director Barbara Wulff said the staff typically selects four contestants at each city stop.
