Tuned In Journal: Writers' strike funnies; Quinto as Spock

O'Hara native Jonathan Green ("The Class," "The Showbiz Show with David Spade"), a 1991 graduate of Shady Side Academy, has come up with a unique way to cope with the writers' strike: He and writing partner Gabe Miller have started a blog called What We're Not Writing.
In the blog, the pair create some terrible and terribly funny pitches for TV shows that will not be because of the strike. My favorite: "Venti Nonfat Pumpkin Spice Latte," a character-based one-hour drama about a couple whose marriage is torn apart by the death of their son. Project would have received some promotional consideration from Starbucks.
Meanwhile, a "Daily Show" writer posted this strike video and Starz, which is not owned by a major studio, offers commentaries here and here.
Unaffected by the strike, the new "Star Trek" movie is already in production. This week, the first pictures of Pittsburgh native Zachary Quinto ("Heroes") as Spock appeared on a blog. Check them out here.
