"Becky's New Car" was named a best new play finalist in 2009 by the American Theatre Critics Association, which quoted a Seattle Times review that described Steven Dietz's work as "a warmly humorous and nimble romantic farce, a genial consideration of loves lost and found, midlife- and middle-class ennui and American car lust." Now The Rep, Point Park University's professional theater company, is revving up "Becky's New Car" for a run tonight through Feb. 17 in Pittsburgh Playhouse's Studio Theatre.

Kim Martin directs Jodi Gage as Becky Foster, whose prospects as a seemingly content wife and mother change when a millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where she works. He mistakes her for a widow, she doesn't correct him, and the lies escalate from there.

"Becky's New Car" has a one-night preview before Friday's official opening at the Oakland theater. Showtimes: 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays; 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets: $24-$27 ($15 tonight) at 412-392-8000 or pittsburghplayhouse.com. The post-show Dunkin' Donuts Discussion Series will be held Feb. 8.
