Virginia Wall Gruenert's play "Shaken & Stirred," about women struggling with the toll alcohol has taken on their lives and the lives of those they love, is headed to New York City soon, but first, you can see where it originated, in Washington, Pa.

The production is by Off the Wall, run by the wife and husband team of Ms. Gruenert, the artistic director, and managing director Hans Gruenert. After its run Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 22, it will be staged at the 60-seat Theatre 54 in midtown Manhattan for four performances Oct. 26-29.

During the show's 2007 run, it was voted a Post-Gazette reader favorite, and one appreciative theatergoer wrote, "The poignancy of real-life poured through the actress and playwright, Virginia Greunert. We sat on the edge of our seats, laughed, cried and had some of those 'oh my' moments throughout."

Ms. Gruenert joins a cast of Karen Baum, Erika Cuenca and Robyne Parrish, who also directs the play about women struggling to overcome addiction. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Oct. 8, 14-15 and 20-22 and 3 p.m. Oct. 16; tickets are $5-$30 at proartstickets.org or 412-394-3353; more info at insideoffthewall.com.
