Broadway and touring powerhouse "Jersey Boys" will return to Pittsburgh Sept. 4-23.

"Jersey Boys," winner of the Tony and Olivier awards as best musical, is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, including songwriter Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. The blue-collar boys became pop music sensations, selling 175 million records worldwide. They also were haunted by a band member's ties to organized crime, huge debts and family tragedies. John Logan, writer of the Oscar-nominated "Hugo" and Tony-winner "Red," was recently hired to write the screenplay for a big-screen production of "Jersey Boys."

There are six productions of the show, including two U.S. tours and the ongoing original in Broadway's August Wilson Theatre. The musical's first local stop in 2009 brought 87,000 theatergoers to the Benedum Center.

Tickets for the PNC Broadway Across America -- Pittsburgh show start at $29 at trustarts.org or 412-456-4800. More information: www.JerseyBoysTour.com or www.trustarts.org .
