3 comedies on PG London trip

The Post-Gazette's early spring Critic's Choice theater tour to London, a tradition of more than two decades, will fly March 4-11, just in time for London's early daffodils and magnolias. Matching that mood, the trip will feature three comedies:
• Noel Coward's "Hay Fever," a comedy of bad manners starring the glamorous Lindsay Duncan and Jeremy Northam, at the (coincidentally) Noel Coward Theatre.
• "The Ladykillers," a new stage adaptation of the classic 1955 movie that starred Alec Guinness and a young Peter Sellers, at the Gielgud Theatre.
• Oliver Goldsmith's "She Stoops to Conquer," a boisterous 18th-century comedy about love and class, just opened to cheering reviews at the Oliver Theatre in the National Theatre complex on the Thames.
Critic's Choice tours differ from the Post-Gazette's traditional ShowPlanes in informality, smaller group size and fewer frills. Led by senior theater critic Chris Rawson, the group will stay at the Radisson Edwardian Kenilworth Hotel, only a block from the British Museum and a short walk from the West End theater district, Covent Garden, Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square.
Although three shows are included, you can see as many as 10 shows in a London week, still leaving time for museums, palaces, walking tours, cathedrals and pubs. Each day there will be at least one optional tour planned, but you will also want to strike out on your own, using the bus and subway pass provided.
Included are round-trip air between Pittsburgh and London; transfers between the London airport and hotel; full English breakfast daily; welcoming dinner; one-week London bus and subway pass; professionally guided London walking tour; taxes, VAT and gratuities on included items; and Mr. Rawson's advice and guidance throughout.
The basic tour price is $2,999, double-occupancy, which includes a special airfare that can be guaranteed only on bookings made through Jan. 5. The single supplement is $597.
For registration, a deposit of $500 per person is required, along with completed Reservation Request Form. All payments are to be made to Gulliver's Travels Inc., 460 S. Graham St., Pittsburgh PA 15232-1210.
