Summer times: Concerts make for a season of sound

The concert landscape will look a little different this summer, with the Station Square amphitheater out of the picture, leaving Stage AE as the only major venue along the rivers. In its second year, it has another big summer planned, with more than 40 shows expected by the end of September.
In Burgettstown, the First Niagara Pavilion appears to be on the rebound with many of its major players -- Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean -- all checking in, plus that hot Wiz Khalifa/Mac Miller pairing and a rare rap-show launch with Drake.
Heinz Field, which hosted three major concerts in 2011, is down to one this summer (Kenny Chesney/Tim McGraw), as the hoped-for Rolling Stones 50th anniversary tour did not pan out.
Inside, Consol Energy Center goes heavy with classic rock (Roger Waters, Rush, Rod Stewart), and the Cultural District, suburban theaters and clubs pick up some of the smaller acts.
