Rush, Heart headed to Rock Hall of Fame

Rush, a band long considered to be a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snub, is going into the hall as a member of the 2013 class.
The Canadian progressive-rock trio will be joined by female-fronted rockers Heart, witty singer-songwriter Randy Newman, militant rap icons Public Enemy and two artists who will be inducted posthumously -- disco queen Donna Summer and bluesman Albert King.
Joel Peresman, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and a Pittsburgh native, said this year's class of inductees "again represents the broad, compelling and significant definition of rock and roll."
Rush issued a statement saying, "We are honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The three of us are especially appreciative of our loyal fans whose support and dedication has gone a long way to making this possible. P.S. And special thanks to our moms for voting 6,000 times!"
The inductees were chosen by more than 500 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. This was the first year that a fan ballot made up a small portion of the vote.
The Ahmet Ertegun (nonperformer) Awards will go to producers Lou Adler and Quincy Jones.
The 28th annual Induction Ceremony will take place April 18 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
