Music Review: Harlow secures his salsa title
Share with others:
Larry Harlow made his first appearance in Pittsburgh Friday night, and he didn't disappoint the standing-room-only crowd at the Cabaret at Theater Square.
Performing with his 12-piece band, Harlow, billed as the Godfather of salsa, worked the crowd into a lather throughout the evening with slick arrangements and fiery Afro-Cuban rhythms.
Playing new songs as well as music from the classic Fania Records catalog, Harlow kept things flowing and the crowd on the dance floor.
About the only thing annoying was the length of the intermission, which seemed to last for more than a hour.
But when the music restarted, so did the dancing.
Pittsburgh needs a salsa club. There's enough fans to support one.
