Two artists who have been scarce in Pittsburgh -- Morrissey and Fiona Apple -- will appear here during the same week in October.

Morrissey will perform at Heinz Hall on Oct. 23. The former frontman for The Smiths played The Fulton with that band in 1986, then canceled two shows here hours before the event (1991 and 2000) before finally taking the stage at Carnegie Music Hall on St. Patrick's Day 2009.

There are no details yet on ticket sales.

Fiona Apple will headline Stage AE on Oct. 21. Tickets are $35/$37 day of show, and go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster.

The last time we saw the singer-songwriter-pianist was March 2000 at the Palumbo Center. She played an acclaimed comeback show at the South by Southwest Music Conference in March and today is releasing her first album in seven years, "The Idler Wheel ... ."
