Local Scene: Jasiri X and Paradise Gray at Ignite2012 tour; the First Annual Hank Williams tribute show

#Ignite the vote
• Pittsburgh rappers/activists Jasiri X and Paradise Gray are part of the #Ignite2012 tour, which hits the Kelly Strayhorn Theater and the Shadow Lounge on Saturday.
Joining them to discuss issues affecting between the ages of 18 and 35 will be a panel that consists of Rocsi Diaz, co-host of BET's 106 & Park; Chuck Creekmur, founder of AllHipHop.com; Biko Baker, executive director of the League of Young Voters; Andreas Hale, founder of The Well Versed; Malik Rhasaan, founder of #OccupytheHood; Kim Osorio, editor-in-chief of Source Magazine; Dream Hampton, Jay-Z biographer, hip-hop journalist; and Dr. James Peterson, MSNBC commentator.
The goal of #Ignite2012 is to reignite the youth vote and inspire 100,000 young voters to participate in the upcoming election.
The free panel will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty, and will stream live at YoungVoterLive.com.
At 10 p.m., Jasiri X, Dee-1, Aliesa Nicole and Tarica June will perform at the Shadow Lounge, 5972 Baum Blvd., East Liberty.
Pittsburgh Cares for Hank
• "Your Cheatin' Heart," "Hey, Good Lookin'," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," "Why Don't You Love Me," "Move it on Over" ... the Hank Williams catalog is a veritable gold mine.
It will be tapped on Friday night at the Lawrenceville Moose Lodge in The First Annual Hank Williams tribute show, a benefit for Pittsburgh Cares.
The show will feature nearly a dozen local bands including Slim Forsythe and His New Payday Loners, Beagle Brothers, Armadillos, The Mavens and Damaged Pies.
Pittsburgh Cares, celebrating 20 years of service, is the region's leader in providing volunteers with high-quality service.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at www.ShowClix.com and at www.PittsburghCares.org.
Underground jazz
• The Andy Warhol Museum's Sound Series opens Friday with São Paulo Underground, a modern jazz/tropicalia band that combines Chicago's Rob Mazurek (cornet and electronics) with Brazil's Guilherme Granado (keyboards), Mauricio Takara (drums, percussion) and Richard Ribeiro (drums),
Mr. Mazurek previously has collaborated with the likes of Jim O'Rourke, Pharoah Sanders and Stereolab, along with being featured in the trio Starlicker.
All About Jazz called São Paulo Underground "a modern approach to Brazil's tropicalia that takes into account advances in sound manipulation and engineering. It is street music from the Brazilian subterranean avant-garde and it is confusingly wonderful."
