Federal judge issues order barring fake Rush merchandise

Anyone planning to sell bootleg Rush merchandise outside of the band's Sept. 11 show at Consol Energy Center will be violating an order issued today by U.S. District Judge David S. Cercone.
Judge Cercone granted the request of Showtech Merchandising Inc., an Ontario firm that owns the rights to sell Rush gear, for a temporary restraining order. It bars anyone from making, selling or giving away imitation Rush merchandise.
The order directs federal marshals, and asks local law enforcement, to help Showtech's agents to seize fake Rush merchandise. Showtech has said it is hiring off-duty city police to patrol the area around the arena.
Showtech requested the order -- unusual in this judicial district -- in a complaint filed Saturday. Anyone opposing the order can appear in Judge Cercone's courtroom at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the order said.
