Rogue Wave performs as part of The Warhol's Sound Series at the museum, 117 Sandusky St., at 8 p.m. The group, whose new album, "Permalight," "veers somewhat from the band's darker, cerebral aesthetic toward a brighter, high-energy approach to similarly well-crafted and textured pop songs," makes its appearance here just a couple of weeks prior to a performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, $15, visit www.ticketweb.com or call 412-237-8300.
It's been three years since the Red Barn Theater in Hampton closed. This month a new theater group is starting up with the hopes of filling the gap left behind.
The Ghostlight Theatre Troupe will be under the artistic direction of Rich Kenzie, a Hampton resident who has been active on the stage in England, Canada and in the Pittsburgh area, including the Red Barn Theater.
Ghostlight's first production will be the Pittsburgh premiere of Edward Albee's "At Home at the Zoo."
Under the direction of Gabe Herlinger, "At Home at the Zoo" will star Mr. Kenzie, Mary Romeo and Ned Johnstone. Pat Van Eman, former artistic director of Red Barn Theater, is producer. The play contains mature subject matter not suitable for children.
Performances will be 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through July 31 at the Money Concepts building, 5061 William Flynn Highway, Hampton. A wine and cheese reception will follow Thursday's opening-night performance. Admission is $15 for adults; $10 for seniors. Seating is limited; please make reservations at 724-444-8844.
The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh 100th Annual Exhibition will have a free public opening from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Carnegie Museum of Art. The show, juried by retired Post-Gazette art critic Donald Miller and Hirshhorn Museum (D.C.) assistant curator Al Miner, is the pinnacle of a celebratory centennial year that will see more than 70 AAP-related exhibitions and other events.
