MONDAY

"To Speak Her Heart," prints, mixed media and installations by artists Leslie A. Golomb and Barbara Broff Goldman, opens with a free public reception from 7 to 9 p.m. at the American Jewish Museum, Squirrel Hill. The artists, whose work appears frequently in Associated Artists of Pittsburgh exhibitions, conducted research for 10 years on the development and use of Jewish women's devotional prayers. The exhibition includes rare examples of women's prayers and poems that provide a glimpse into the history of women's lives. An artists talk will be held at 2 p.m. May 23, and the exhibition continues through June 30 at the Jewish Community Center, 5738 Forbes Ave. 412-521-8011.

Celebrate Life, Celebrate Art 2010, Persad Center's annual benefit art auction, at 6 p.m. in the Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. The event, a fundraiser for the counseling center serving the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, is slated to include more than 200 pieces of art from regional, national and international artists as well as food from top area restaurants and entertainment. THURSDAY

"Small But Sublime: Intimate 19th Century American Landscapes," paintings from the Newark Museum spanning the Hudson River School to American Impressionism, will open at The Frick Art Museum with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. ($12, members $10; reservations recommended at 412-371-0600). THURSDAY through SUNDAY

Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., presents its four-day newMoves 2010 Contemporary Dance Festival showcasing work from 15 choreographers -- including five guest artists from Philadelphia and New York -- and a range of contemporary dance styles.

On Thursday, the festival opens with Meredith Rainey, Gwen Ritchie and Megan Bridge. Friday features work by Nichole Canuso and Camille Brown. Saturday includes work by Pearlann Porter, Staycee Pearl, Michael Walsh and Kaylin Horgan. Thursday to Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
